Electrolysis is the permanent removal of unwanted hair using a short wave diathermy current. This current creates heat at the root of the hair shaft. This heat coagulates the blood supply and living cells at the base of the hair (follicle) thereby destroying it and the hair will no longer grow.
To target the heat at the root of the hair a minute needle is inserted and the current is activated for one or two seconds. The hair is then removed with tweezers.
Do not be alarmed by the term needle. These are very small, measured in thousandth of an inch, and only just visible to the naked eye.
Treatment is usualy recommended at 7 to 14 day intervals to begin with and becoming less frequent as the hairs are destroyed.
This is the best treatment for very small areas or non pigmented hairs such as white or very blonde that cannot be treated with laser or IPL treatments
